Professor Michael Gibbs Clinical Professor of Economics at Chicago Booth Work from Home (WFH) or Return to Office (RTO) ?

Attend a virtual special lecture with Professor Michael Gibbs, Clinical Professor of Economics at Chicago Booth.

Most companies are now bringing remote workers back to the office, or adopting hybrid modes that combine office and remote work. In many cases, companies are mandating this return, sometimes to full time office work. This is highly controversial, since employees almost universally value the remote work option. How do we explain this conflict? How is it likely to play out over the next few years?

Professor Gibbs will share insights from 2 published papers, as well as brand new working paper. He and his collaborators have developed evidence on how remote work (compared to office or hybrid work) affects employee productivity, innovation, and social networks.
