Jaime Chico-Pardo, ‘74, Chairman and CEO, Grupo ENEA, invites you to join Haresh Sapra, the Charles T. Horngren Professor of Accounting for a special lecture in Mexico City on Thursday, 23 February.  This free of charge event is co-hosted by the Executive and Full-Time MBA Admissions teams and the Alumni Engagement team.

The Pitfalls of Transparency – Can Accounting Numbers Undermine Financial Stability?

Professor Sapra will discuss whether the way accounting numbers are designed undermines their use in the regulation of banks. He will describe his new research on how providing transparent information to shareholders can create misleading information for supervisors who are interested in stability. What are the economic consequences for firms and financial markets?

In addition to being a nice opportunity to reconnect with the Chicago Booth community in Mexico, this event is also a chance for prospective students to learn more about Chicago Booth.
