At this SILS event, attendees will learn how Starbucks is approaching global business responsibility and how public policy initiatives are affecting the industry.

Susan Long is an environmental impact manager on the Global Responsibility and Public Policy (GRPP) team at Starbucks. She works with the company’s global business units to incorporate sustainability into all aspects of operations, from waste reduction, to packaging sustainability and innovation, energy and water efficiency, and green building. Founded in 1971 in Seattle, WA, Starbucks has grown into the largest coffee house chain in the world, generating more than five times the revenue than that of its closest competitor.

About Susan Long, '94:

Susan Long is an environmental impact manager on the Global Responsibility and Public Policy (GRPP) team at Starbucks. She works with the company’s global business units to incorporate sustainability into all aspects of operations, from waste reduction, to packaging sustainability and innovation, energy and water efficiency, and green building. Long also converses with external stakeholders in NGOs, government, and partner companies. She has been in her current position for over 19 years, working in a variety of roles within the Supply Chain manufacturing organization, prior to joining the GRPP team. Susan has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and Purdue University, and an MBA in Finance, Accounting, & Statistics from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
