Foreign Direct Investment

China has historically been a magnet for foreign direct investment with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first five months of 2014 still up 2.8 percent year-over-year, at $48.91 billion. But in recent months investments have softened in the world’s second-largest economy.

What are the factors affecting the locations for FDI on the mainland? Are there operating concerns for foreign firms that may be tightening the purse strings on investment? Is the regulatory environment stable and transparent enough to attract new investments? New on China’s horizon is Shanghai’s Free Trade Zone (FTZ). What is the FTZ and is it working?

Chicago Booth invites you to join us in Shanghai for a discussion with Booth alumni and financial experts who will share their expertise and perspective on the current environment. Hear their take on the future of foreign direct investment in Shanghai.
